Workiz Engages in Deceptive Business Practices – Possibly Violating Consumer Protection Laws

I strongly advise against using Workiz due to their deceptive and unethical billing practices. They lock customers into annual contracts without clear disclosure, burying this crucial information in the fine print of their Terms of Service rather than explicitly stating it during signup.

I recently downsized my business and no longer needed their $300/month plan. When I requested to downgrade, I was blindsided with the claim that I was locked into a yearly contract—something I was never made aware of. When I asked for proof of my signed agreement, they refused to provide it. Instead, a Workiz representative, Marcus Butler, told me that if I removed my payment method, they couldn’t continue charging me. Shortly after, while I was still in conversation with their team about my concerns, my account was disabled without warning, leaving me locked out of my customer data, schedule, outstanding invoices, and critical business information.

To make matters worse, I was misled by a Workiz rep who falsely claimed that their “Lite” plan does not include payment processing—yet their own website shows otherwise. It’s clear that Workiz is using deceptive sales tactics to force customers into overpriced plans they don’t need.

I researched similar providers, and their base packages typically cost around $50 per month—far less than Workiz’s inflated pricing. Despite this, I even offered to pay for their free package as an act of good faith to continue using their platform at a reasonable cost. Instead of honoring this, they locked me out of my account entirely rather than downgrading me.

This behavior violates multiple consumer protection laws, including:
• Washington Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86.020) – Prohibits unfair or deceptive acts in trade or commerce, including misleading contract terms.
• FTC Act (15 U.S. Code § 45) – Prohibits unfair or deceptive practices that mislead consumers.
• Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (15 U.S. Code § 7001) – Requires clear consent for electronic contracts, which Workiz failed to provide.

Given the number of similar complaints against Workiz across online platforms, this appears to be a widespread issue. I will be reporting them to the Washington State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and my legal counsel. I am also exploring a class-action lawsuit to hold them accountable if this is not resolved.

Consumers deserve honesty and transparency. Workiz has failed on both fronts. If you’ve experienced similar deceptive practices, I encourage you to report them as well

The features and ability of Workiz has me supercharged with excitement. I chose Workiz because it's what I need to scale and grow my business - and I believe it's set up in a way that will make this process smoother, more efficient, and more organized.

The support staff has been great! I've had two one-on-one onboarding calls - and both representatives were great!

There was an issue from my end with Stripe - and someone from Workiz got in touch me right away and walked me through correcting the issue.
