I recently filed my taxes using self services - turbo taxes online , my taxes are very simple , just income , w2 , no mortgage of any kind so I was suppose to get the Free edition or just the regular one ..yet , got stuck to either exit or proceed with deluxe version $148 .. for what ?
I tried the customer support 1-800 so many times and got no where , no live agent , automated system and does not even hear correctly.. so frustrating, I then
Googled and found this on FTC website,

“The Federal Trade Commission has issued an Opinion and Final Order that Intuit Inc., the maker of the popular TurboTax tax filing software, engaged in DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING in violation of the FTC Act and deceived consumers when it ran ads for “free” tax products and services for which many consumers were ineligible.Jan 22, 2024”

A nightmare. Stay away. A glitch in the Home and Business Turbotax program resulted in dangerously inaccurate tax calculations. I sent literally 8 hours on the phone with Turbotax being transferred, being made to wait, calls dropped and highly incompetent support staff who did not know what they were talking about, had inaccurate information and never even offered me a new progra, . It was never fixed and I had to finally just buy H & R block which of course did not have the glitch and file my taxes. Now I have to fight Turbo for a refund and redo the two tax returns before I discovered the glitch in Turbo's system. I'll never use them again
