This service was exactly what I was looking for, monitoring my internet connection for outages! I installed the server on my Raspberry Pi with one snag over root permissions that was easily solved by reading the Outages Forums. In reading through support responses, it appears the support staff try very hard to help solve any user issues, and seem to genuinely care about users having a good experience using their service. I hope they are successful, and continue providing a very useful service. I would and will recommend OutagesIO to others needing to monitor their internet service for outages!

I have searched around for an affordable solution to monitor our datacenter after having near disasters in the past. After evaluating other options, I decided to give OutagesIO a try for internet and network status monitoring with alerts along with environmental variables. Let me tell you, this solution has saved us several times from arguing with service providers to racing in to server room due to environmental issues with our cooling system. The savings this has provided us incredible and for the small cost, you should definitely give it a try. Side note- their support is awesome and development truly listens to customer feedback, it doesn't just disappear like most companies.

Monitoring your in/outbound link to the internet was never easier. You can get up & running in 5 minutes at no cost, and if you like what you see, I'd say that getting a hardware probe is the next step. I put mine next to the router and now I have permanent surveillance. Super. The free subscription has become a bit pared down lately. Not to the point of being useless, just enough to create an incentive for a paid subscription. I would however have liked it if there was a choice between two (eg 'Hobbyist' and 'Commercial') subscription levels. As it is, there's only one 'Extended' type available. Or am I reading the website wrong?

I'm new at using OutageIO but from what I've seen so far it will be a very useful tool. I downloaded it because I am having interruptions to my internet. It is not so obvious when I'm using my browser but plays havoc when I'm streaming video over my Apple TV. I'm trying to determine the cause and OutageIO is giving me the time and duration of all those interruptions plus where he interruptions are coming from; either my own equipment, or from my provider. Be sure to follow the instruction with regard to using Administrator for installing it.

In response to the owner's reply: When your software is running there is no clear indication that it is, in fact, running or doing anything (other than saying it's active). I was running a continuous ping test and had several drops that your software didn't even seem to notice. But who can tell? The interface is horrible and unintuitive. I've moved on to a more user-friendly alternative. Perhaps consider getting more user feedback on your app since it's very lacking.

The interface is confusing considering the lack of text/help to explain how it works. No clear way to delete your account, either. There are much better, easier to use, and properly documented utilities that I'd much rather use.

Inexpensive, easy to use hardware for 24/7 monitoring of my internet connectivity. Just what I wanted. Amazingly rapid response to any questions that I have about the service. They will soon be releasing a remotely controlled power strip that will permit power cycling to reset frozen hardware - something I need ASAP.

I'm using this to document Comcast outages, and it's got all the features needed for that. At whatever I consider an end point, it's easy to send the data to Comcast. The next step is to turn my neighbors on to this so that Comcast has less of a chance of ignoring it. I'd highly recommend this free, easy-to-use service.
