Working with the Maxwells’ and their team was a fabulous experience. I was nervous about building my first custom home, a retirement estate, while living four hours away in Albuquerque. I needed someone that I could trust and not have to babysit through the process. I have heard lots of horror stories about building a house and the contractor either taking advantage or leaving the project halfway through.
Cody‘s references were impeccable. His communication was clean, soft spoken, happy, and pleasant. His duplication of conversation into actuation precise. I felt that he listened and duplicated what I wanted with tremendous attention to detail. It took about seven months to deliver a 2400 square-foot house. Through that time. Not only did I not have a single argument with him, but I felt like I made a friend and resource in Cortez , my new hometown.
Amanda was also excellent. She was mostly behind the scenes getting me samples of choices in appliances, wallpaper, sconces, etc. She also put me in contact with a Mortgage Broker. Timely and seamless.
The house is a craftsman home with art deco interior. Not your typical request, in the southwest. Other than conversations for clarity of my vision, there was no pause or hiccup. I truly believe that they are capable of building a house in any style.
At one point in the project, I was unhappy with tile work in a bathroom at the corner seam as the pattern was not lining up correctly. When I spoke to Cody about this he was already in the process of having the sub come back and handle it.
I had few change orders because I was clear in my vision and Cody was an excellent listener and resource of knowledge as to what might be better through his building experience. The project was delivered within the budget specified initially.
Service after the sale has also been spot on. If Cody doesn’t get back to me within a day or two of a text question, I’m actually concerned about him because his response time has been prompt throughout my time, knowing him.
Bottom line: I confidently recommend Cody and Amanda for your project. They are good Honest people delivering an amazing product.

We’ve never had someone build us a house, and never intended to, but as Fate would have it, we were looking at some houses for sale in a neighborhood we liked, and ran into Amanda. One thing led to another, and we ended up having Cody build us a house there! It’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Cody and Amanda were so accommodating and open to our ideas and wants during the process. Both were extremely helpful and patient, and a pleasure to work with. Cody worked very hard to get us into our home in record time. If not for a Covid era mix up, we would have been moving into our new build in 4 months! Cody stands by his company’s work, and has rectified any minor issues that have come up since moving in. We have great admiration for Cody and Amanda and highly recommend Maxwell Development!
