I recently had an experience with LimeSurvey GmbH that prompted me to share this less-than-pleasant review.

The LimeSurvey software itself proved to be user-friendly and served its intended purpose effectively for my project.

The trouble arose when my annual license automatically renewed without any prior notification on their part, as far as I am aware.

Upon discovering the charge, I reached out to LimeSurvey GmbH to express my dissatisfaction and request a refund, given that I was not currently utilizing the software. Unfortunately, the response I received left me with a sense that LimeSurvey GmbH was dismissive of my concerns and insisted that this was simply their standard business practice. Notably, I even received an email response that included , "But to be honest, what I do not like is that you threaten to try to give LimeSurvey a bad reputation. Our business model is not shady as we repeatedly tell our users that they are dealing with a subscription that automatically renews. If you do not read the information we provide, there is in my eyes only one person to blame."

This response gave me the impression that LimeSurvey GmbH was deflecting responsibility onto me, which was rather disheartening, especially considering the relatively minor amount of money involved.

In light of this experience, I can only heed the age-old advice, "buyer beware." Consequently, I have decided not to engage their services in the future and cannot, in good conscience, recommend them to others, be they individuals, universities, or businesses.
