For the past 2-3 years I’ve had a loss in the family. Credit cards were maxed out bills were stacked. Laurie was wonderful, she assisted me in removing many negative items removed and updating our scores every cycle. In less a year my credit score went from low 400 back up to high 650. Highly recommend! 3 years after I had a car accident an ambulance bill for $1700 showed up in my mailbox for a charge that I was sure was paid out of the settlement from the accident. I called the credit service but no one would answer my voicemails or emails and then it landed on my credit report. After that small amounts marked "unknown medical" of $25 started to appear on my credit report. I did not want to deal with this in the middle of a refinance and new job so called Laurie on a recommendation. She is fantastic. Easy to work with. She got ALL THE CHARGES REMOVED at no extra cost. Incredible!! In addition to getting all the derogatory issues cleared on my credit she gave me some great advice to raise and keep my score high. My score went up from 720 to 765. It's worth the price of her fee for peace of mind and to know that I am not paying bogus charges on my credit report. I thought I would rather pay her to settle the charge and was expecting to pay something for the ambulance in addition to her fee (which I assumed would be less then the ambulance cost) but ended up paying nothing to the creditors and with a big increase in my score.

I'm writing this after Laurie asked me to post a review (more than once-- apparently she kept forgetting that she had already asked me to to post a review). I personally feel it's unprofessional for her to "push" for people to write reviews during a vulnerable time like credit counseling. I'm wondering if a lot of these reviews are written while paying Laurie during the initial phase while people are feeling hopeful after hearing all the ways she will try to raise your credit (at an additional cost for each, of course). But what happens down the line after her service ends?

The initial emails from her were re-usable templates that contained a lot of complicated information like signing up for various accounts. They were overwhelming and difficult to navigate. She required signing up with a credit reporting agency that is another expense and very challenging to cancel (I had to call them and talk to high-pressure, fear-mongering salespeople in order to cancel because there is no way to cancel on their website).

During my initial call with her, I explained why my credit score had dropped, and she never seemed to remember this again, just kept asking if I wanted to pay her (on top of her monthly fee) to send more generic letters to creditors that did nothing at all. I don't know if Laurie is the one composing or sending these letters because she could not remember whether letters had been sent in the past or what they said.

Two things I found particularly unhelpful about my experience with this business: she called me without scheduling a time and talk for the monthly "check-in." My calls lasted about 3-4 minutes and she talked in a rushed way, nothing new, just reviewing the obvious and asking if I wanted to renew another month. I'm still unsure why she only accepts payment via Venmo. It never instilled confidence in me.

All in all, my credit score initially increased, but has since decreased again. I feel her service is expensive and I don't see the value in it.
