Ryan Steck, the CFO, prepared our 2021 corporate and personal tax returns. Although we had $60,000 in credits available to the owners, he only applied enough on each personal return to get the tax due to 0, not considering that withholdings could be refunded and leaving thousands in tax credits unused. His mistake was either sloppy or ignorant. After another CPA discovered the error, we have to amend all our returns to recapture those funds.

The overall bookkeeping experience wasn't outstanding, either, and we switched companies in 2022. If you have a business that has any complexity at all, I'd encourage you to find a local, knowledgeable full-service accounting firm. A knowledgeable firm can save you five figures easily.
