Edit: someone reached out to my mom after I wrote this review and explained the poor clinic communication being due to staffing and apologizing. Apparently they DO take her insurance and the lady was not sure why my mom was turned away the first time. My mom has decided to give them a second chance. I am updating from 1 to 3 stars for the apology and clarification. Will update again once she has had a new interaction.

Scheduled a therapy appointment for my mom. The lady on the phone verified my mom's plan was covered and that she would have a $0 copay. Never said anything about needing a referral from a PCP. My mom drove all the way there for her first appointment, and was told they're not in-network and never got to see the therapist - then said with a referral she could? So which is it? I am a mental health clinician so it's not like I don't understand how the process is supposed to work, but I don't know what plans they do and do not take. Not all HMOs require a referral, but the ones that do, they should know this and tell the patient beforehand. She spoke with someone later who said something completely different. Poor administration with no communication.

My experience here was okay. The counselor I saw was nice and listened, but we were not a great fit. She had recommended I get a dog to help with loneliness and depression and I would say it has helped. Unfortunately I was told since I stopped seeing her I was not able to get a letter stating my dog was an emotional support dog unless I started seeing her again. That seems odd to me, as the dog was her suggestion. If you end up getting a suggestion from one of the counselors here to get an animal to help you mentally just remember to ask for that letter during the same session is all.

I am so pleased that my family found Hopeful Texas and, especially, Tara. My daughter had been to two other therapists and believed that therapy was not beneficial to her. Then, we met Tara. She has had a profound impact on my daughter and the growth and change, in a short time, is incredible. We are extraordinarily grateful.

I called and made an appointment for my husband after a week trying to find someone to see him and this place answered and I was like awesome. Made an apt for 2 pm Friday 07-01-2022. Person that made the apt for me on 06/28/2022 was named Alicia and she took all his information even told me the copay for insurance great! My husband shows up to his first meeting and no apt was made on their end. Granted I understand he was running late due to the weather storm but they did not even try to accommodate him to at least to be seen and start a section. If people go to counseling to get help and get turned away it really is a slap in the face! The least that could have happened was making an effort on this teams part to say look your late your session will be shorter but not even that. You would think if you work here you would be willing to help people but obviously not. I even called back and asked if I would be charged and Alicia didn’t answer my call because I am assuming she saw my phone # and didn’t wanna speak to me. I had my coworker use her phone to call for me right after and she picked up. I confronted her and said I had to call from a different number to ask this since you did not want to talk to me! Very unprofessional and all I can say if it’s your first time make sure your appointment is confirmed before this happens to you.

Dr. Brian Schulz has really helped me to change my life for the better. He really cares and wants to see his patients progress and grow, and not just stay in therapy forever. I have been in therapy before, but this is the FIRST time I’ve been given tools to help navigate the more difficult parts of life for me. I have no excuse not to change and improve my life with all that Dr. Brian Schulz has taught me and equipped me with. I am doing great and would highly recommend Dr. Brian Schulz to anyone searching for an excellent therapist. My only regret is that I didn’t find him and start seeing him years ago!

Honestly has a been a complete wreck. Elizabeth Marcum was not the therapist for me. It happens. But they refuse to give me a receipt that is detailed for my FSA. I’ve called several times and they keep telling me that “Office Visit” on my receipt should be good enough for any FSA but because they refuse to help me I’m having to pay it all out of pocket. Their admin is a joke
