I was here back in about 1962 I had been traumatized so much at once that I stopped talking. Back then if you didn't go to school it was state institution. My dad could afford to get me the help that I needed . They were very gifted staff there. When my parents took me there my mom said after one of the staff took me for a walk. While they were in the office signing papers. For the first time in 8 months I had a smile. What happen to me wasn't my fault. I would stay there 4 years. Mrs Marie was the director and her husband Mr Maria ran the ranch part of the school. He was a real cowboy, they had horses in pigs and a few other animals can't remember. Am now 70 iam thankful they are to help me. I went back in the 80s to visit one time. But every one was gone that new. One of the teachers there would take us to church some times, I can remember it was a First Assembly of God they took me forward and the whole church prayed for me. God had His care on me through the years. I hope they still do that. Anyway just wanted to thank them again.

Devereux transformed our 14 year old son. By the time we sent him to Devereux, I had all but given up hope that he would not ultimately end up in jail. The incomparable staff was firm with boundaries but completely loving and supportive. They were highly communicative with us. The teachers were surprisingly effective and very involved in his learning. I found the support staff to be responsive. Special mention for Shirley Daniels who was our son's family therapist; she was excellent. Devereux returned to us a respectful young man who--while not perfect--had been put back on the right path with a skill set and hope for success.

My son was 14 and 15 when he attended DT. They were excellent! I especially loved his therapist. Even during Hurricane Harvey, they kept me involved with what was happening. He spent a few months in their adult facility outside of a Victoria while their League City facility was repaired from flood damage. On-site and off-site visits were made for our son and it helped with his treatment. Staff was kind and appropriate. I would definitely recommend your child to go here if they need the level of care DT had to offer.

Devereux has pivoted from serving children and adults with mental health challenges and intense behaviors to serving children and adolescents with autism and intellectual disabilities. They provide services where a gap largely exists nationwide serving children who need a residential level of care for psychiatric and applied behavior analytic care to achieve behavior reduction and increase skills.

Its been 10 years (today) since my departure from Devereux, located in League city Texas. Id like to share that this organization saved my life. I was a tough case (or at least thats what I was told). I lived and received grade-A treatment from Devereux throughout March 10th 2010- January 7th 2012. I was discharged at age 18, a few weeks before my 19th birthday. The staff there are..... one of a kind. They truly care about the residents/youth/patients. They taught me more than I can elaborate on. Ultimately they taught me how to love myself, how to think for myself. I was vicously suicidal at that time, I would mutilate my body, had drug issues, and prior to my admission I had stayed at 2 other INTENSE mental health (long-term) facilities. One of those being Provo Canyon School (a facility known for its abuse and negligence. I was actually interviewed by the new york times in December 2021 for my experiences at PCS). That being said, the Devereux team had to help me deal with my severe issues I had prior to Provo Canyon School, AND the additional trauma/issues I acquired at Provo Canyon School. They had their work cut out for them!! They helped me in the most loving, empathetic, compassionate, yet stern way. When I say stern, I dont mean abusive Provo Canyon School way.... Devereuxs way was percieved as TOUGH LOVE. They are all angels in my eyes (even if I had my crazy episodes and didnt appreciate it at the time), I feel a debt to them. I could never have lived a "normal" life in the real world if it wasnt for them and all the help/guidance they provided me with. I can now acquire a job (ON THE SPOT) and I typically recieve significant raises with only a few months of employment due to my leadership skills, social skills, PROBLEM SOLVING skills- skills I wouldn't have acquired if it wasnt for their help. This is the ONLY youth mental health service organization that Id ever recommended to anyone- because they are the only ones who ACTUALLY helped me and didnt worsen my condition. Im grateful to them. The staff their mean the world to me, I still remember all my favorite staffs birthdays, 10 years later. They became family to me. They are there to truly help. They see hope and the future in your childs eyes. If you need to send your child somewhere where you can feel confident they will recieve the services they require.... this is the place.

My son in law tried twice to begin admissions for his child. The receptionist was unprofessional, rude, and refused to allow my son in law to ask any questions. She continued to cut in off as soon as he began speaking. We are definitely going to report her to her supervisor.

I have called a couple of times and the operator is so rude, they never give you a chance to explain yourself then she hung the phone on you. I have never experience a thing like this that you have a company where people can't get to you. You even don't deserve a one star at all according to your behaviors.

I called this organization four times and never got to talk to a person. I left a message asking them to call me back that it was important. They NEVER called me back. Doesn't speak much for a care provider.
