Was referred by a client yet to my disappointment, upon walking into the office I was immediately spoken down to/belittled by Angie with her continual comments of compliance issues. I was seeking guidance and assistance regarding an IRS letter yet they couldn’t do much at the time. Understood, no problem. But after the treatment from Angie I knew this was not the firm that would advocate for me. I asked at the time of my initial appointment what I owed. Bob stated clearly “nothing was owed”. Again, I was there maybe 15 minutes total and they couldn’t do anything for me. About a month later I received a bill for $100. Shocked after being told I owed nothing, I called and spoke to Bob who confirmed once again, nothing was owed. Another bill arrived. This time I mailed the invoice back with the noted day/time I spoke to Bob. Thinking this would finally be resolved was stunned to see yet another invoice arrive. This time speaking with Bob again about the continual error, he wasn’t as kind. If I owed anything, when I asked at the time of my appointment I would have paid. Coming back after the fact AND after several confirmations from Bob I owed nothing, it’s clear there’s a vendetta. I would recommend anyone over this firm.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

First by the advice of Bob I transferred my company to the S Corp. And that would be ok with me but they forgot to file it. The IRS DIDN'T get it.

I got a bad feeling about the company when I started getting invoices for jobs not provided. Like a consultation and you are charged now. And you drop off your tax returns and now it’s a charge for something. Second suspicion was when I tried to get confirmation about what was filed with the IRS.

The company is a hot mess.

They also had to send the w2 for the 2 quarters that I started with them according to the law. Never did, never contacted my new Cpa.

I’d be ok with everything but I’m still in shock that they were so dishonest about filling docs with IRS, not giving my current accountant with the info and just be ok with it!

I totally was taking advantage of the situation. DONT TRUST BOB!

Bob was gracious, patient, and educational, and if we require tax or accounting services in the future I will call Colwell & Co again. Our tax situation is not typically very complex and we haven't used an accountant before. This year we have a strange situation involving an old investment account. When I first called, I felt the front desk staff really listened to what was going on, so that they could help figure out the best plan of attack. They fit me in for a short 30 minute consultation to help me understand how to handle this circumstance. I left feeling a little bit smarter and much more confident. Thank you Bob!

This is my first time providing a negative review for any company, many good ones. Worst service that I have ever encountered from a CPA firm. I just moved to CO and was referred to this firm by a good neighbor friend. I articulated exactly what I needed in our first meeting, and then no follow up to emails, calls from me or my team...Nothing! They said they would do a task then they didn't on multiple occasions even after I spoke with receptionist...Craziest experience. I certainly would NOT recommend this firm. No idea how they are in business. I noticed that there are a few good reviews from current clients, maybe you can you reach out to Bob or Angi and have them return communication.

Best CPA ever. My returns are somewhat more involved than the standard ones. Also, in the past I had to file multiple returns (both income and trust) in two states. The firm handled it perfectly. I find the people friendly, prompt and accurate. I would certainly recommend them to anyone.
