Literally wasted my time. They looked at my eyes 3 times and received information about my case from my previous doctor. Waited tell the day of the procedure to tell me I wasnt able to take it. Literally drove 40 miles for this procedure. And took time off work.

Would not recommend visiting if you have access to literally any other options. Dr. Rachel Epstein and her coordinator seemed more concerned with getting me to agree to her clinical trial rather than actually figuring out a treatment plan that worked for me. Pursued a second opinion at a different hospital in Chicago and was able to be scheduled to receive an actual treatment.

I think it’s misleading to refer to a clinical trial as a “treatment” since this trial only offered a 50% chance of receiving an *actual* treatment rather than a placebo.

Your scheduling coordinator referred to this clinical trial as a “treatment” which doesn’t make sense. She also miraculously was able to provide a clinical trial date three weeks from my consult, but said that pursing the actual treatment option wouldn’t happen for at least five months to accommodate a maternity leave (I feel like there should be a better solution with handing off patients to another doctor within the clinic rather than making them wait five months for treatment). Finally, your coordinator refused to even reach out to my insurance for a prior authorization when I began asking more questions about the treatment (as opposed to the clinical trial). Turns out that my insurance doesn’t even require a prior authorization to begin with, so that would’ve been a non-issue.

I have been a patient for one year. When I first visited Dr. R. Epstein my vision was getting very bad and I was convinced I was going to need more surgery as I had where I previously lived. Dr. Epstein took a very different course and recommended me to his associate Dr. Andrzejewski. In short she was amazing and took me through a process whereby I ended up with Scleral Lens. Nothing else would work because of the irregularities on the surface of my eye. But when we were done with an exhaustive process where she settled for nothing else but perfection my eye site was like it was 40 years ago! Perfect, I was blown away. The professional care taken by both Doctors was just great and I now visit both on a set schedule and am thrilled. BTW these lenses are more comfortable than anything else I have ever worn.

Dr Epstein is a talented Surgeon and inarguably the top in his field. However, he is dismissive and often difficult to communicate with. Wait time for appointments often are longer than 2 hours so it is discoraging that once you see the Dr he can be curt and seemingly without empathy. I am a long time patient and I greatly value his expertise, but after this visit had to offer this review in hopes that it makes some impact on his bedside manner. Staff and office are excellent.

I highly recommend Dr. Randy Epstein (and his team / staff) at Chicago Cornea Consultants. I had RLE (refractive lens exchange) surgery and, exactly as Dr. Epstein had indicated, it’s been life changing. I was not a candidate for LASIK due to a severe astigmatism (& other issues) , and the RLE with toric , multi-focal IOL restored my near, far and intermediate vision so I no longer need to wear glasses. Clear vision post surgery on both eyes has been restored, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice to pursue this surgery.

The surgery itself was easy, pain-free and recovery time minimal. Dr. Epstein and his team gave me absolute comfort that all would go well - and it did! I was working on my laptop the next day after both surgeries.

Dr. Epstein is the absolute best in his field - I wouldn’t have elected to have this surgery with anyone else. Not only is he the best skill-wise , he’s caring , meticulous, professional, thorough, friendly and highly invested in successful outcomes for his patients!

I had laser cataract surgery, a lens implant, and correction for a stigmatism. Dr Epstein did an incredible job. Completely painless and I now can see everything, Near and far, and can read easily without glasses. Dr Epstein is fantastic! Everyone working at Chicago Cornea is very nice!

Spoke to the lady who answered the phone. Told her I had a medical eye emergency and that I needed to see a corneal specialist as soon as possible. She told me they were all booked 2 months ahead. I tried to explain that there should be something for medical emergencies since someone who has booked weeks into the future obviously doesn't have an emergency. She coldly said - very unprofessional - we have nothing for emergencies. Obviously a place for business and not medicine.

I have had a couple of appointments with Dr. Marsha Malooley and have been very impressed both times with her genuine and thorough efforts if fitting me with the best colored contact/prosthetic. She really put a lot of effort into the process and it trying to get it right to both her and my satisfaction. I'm sure she is equally competent in all the other aspect of her treatments.
