We scheduled Jeff to come look at our house (built in 1790) in Chester after the April 2024 earthquake near Tewksbury. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with our many questions! He gave excellent recommendations to help with the cracks in our plaster walls and was able to provide us with peace of mind about our home’s structural integrity.

Bob came out and drew up plans for fixing a foundation issue in my basement.

My contractor liked the plans, just wanted to add a slight adjustment. Bob was very responsive and updated the plans for us. We submitted to the town and they approved without any issue.

Basement came out great. I will be calling them again shortly to get drawings for my attic. Thanks!

Initially very responsive and helpful before purchase of new home. Careaga engineering was hired to provide an engineers report about a structural issue at my current home. However, when it came time to repair the structural issue a few months later, I sent questions in one email about what contractors were proposing to do vs. what the engineer originally recommended. No response.
I was also having a VERY difficult time finding a contractor to do the job the right way. This company's website says they can "recommend qualified and reasonable contractors if desired." When I called for this information (because I was literally desperate to find someone to do the job), I was told every contractor was too busy at the moment and was basically rushed off the phone. Never heard back. This is kind of a disappointing response being that I paid good money for the report ($550) and I was only looking for contractor recommendations.
After about 10 visits from different contractors (yes, 10 and about 2/10 had a clue as to what needed to be done), I eventually found a company (on my own) to fix the structural issue. I really could have used that recommended contractor list! Based on my experience, I can not recommend this company beyond the initial reporting phase.

SCAMMER!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
We used Jeffrey Careaga to do our home inspection twice. The first time we lost the house and I realize now it probably was because he was a scam artist and conned us into using him twice. The house we did get he really screwed us over with. We were first time home buyers, so we were vulnerable to such scam artists. I wont get into specifics but i will say that there were numerable SERIOUS HAZARDS that he completely missed (or more like missed on purpose.) I say this with 100% certainty that Jeffrey Careaga, was on the side of the sellers.

And to top it off he was extremely rude and would cut us off from asking anything. Also it looked like he hardly did anything then wrote a bogus report up and then charged us a fortune. AVOID THE SCAM ARTIST, Jeffrey Careaga!!! AT ALL COSTS!!!

I would never work with any other engineering firm. Jeff himself is the most knowledgeable engineer in the area, and his staff are a joy to work with. From the helpful and friendly receptionist, to the supporting engineering staff, their professionalism is unmatched. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

This is absolutely the worst company I've ever dealt with in my entire life. I had three conversations, delivered all of my information regarding a septic replacement and they never have since answered the phone I have called seven times each time it goes to voicemail never returned one. Absolute disgrace for a company to stay in business with such poor office staff. I"d rate it a zero but there's no zero star.

Jeff and Bob could not possibly have been more responsive, professional or reasonable on cost. I had French Drains being put into my home last Tuesday, but when the crew began the work they discovered that my house did not rest on a foundation that included a "footing," which made jackhammering into the foundation structurally dangerous . The team recommended getting a Structural Engineering report from Careaga, I called immediately (noting my urgency) and by Wednesday Jeff and Bob had issued the report that allowed the French Drain work to proceed on Thursday. An extremely quick resolution to a problem that could have presented a lengthy delay. And the cost was surprisingly reasonable. Now the French Drains are in and no more issues with rainwater in the basement. Thank you very much!
