Beautiful scenery and lots of intact mining structures. We purchased the guidebook at the visitor center. Alot more information on the sites. We took 2 hours to complete the loop stopping at many of the sites. Visiting the mining museum also helps you understand what mining was like in the late 1800's.

Very beautiful but be advised you should have four wheel drive! Would not recommend a car without to do (you can but it is not ide). Despite reading that it was a paved road for passengers cars we learned it was all a gravel road with one section that was steep with pure rocks. Our car got stuck (luckily we were able to get ourself unstuck and up through the path that’s only one way). We advise caution if you don’t have four wheel drive to do the 17 mile loop.

Very nice scenic drive north of Creede. It's mostly just a regular gravel road, but it can get a little rough and muddy in spots, especially after some rain. You'll want a vehicle with at least a little bit of ground clearance. If you drive the loop counter-clockwise, as we did last autumn, the climb out from the mine is very steep. It had just rained for the previous 24 hours, so I appreciated the peace of mind of having 4WD for the climb.

Some good autumn yellows at the higher elevations. Beautiful view of Creede from the west side of the loop. Only took a couple hours at a leisurely pace. Highly recommended if you're staying in the area.

Would have liked a little more info but it was good. It shows the map of the 17 mile drive and another map should the names of the 16 stops that are numbered along the route. It is at the 503 and 502 FR. Go left and do the route counter clock wise. Great examples of mining. Great drive and good road.

Incredible journey into the past. Road is a little rough but we had no issues with our small SUV in all-wheel drive. It was a beautiful dry day when we were there. I would imagine the road would be much more difficult on a rainy day.

The Last Chance Mine is worth a stop. The views up the road into the mountains when you near the end by Creede are stunning.

Such a beautiful drive, lots of places to stop and take photos and plenty of history signs to keep you on track and informed. Make sure to stop at last chance amethyst mine for a tour underground and to see how these mines were run

The directions were not clear and we ended up on a trail ... not meant for cars. It was extremely rough, narrow, wet, broken branches and rocks in the road ... steep, sharp turns ... three branches hanging out into the road. We finally turned around for fear of car damage or becoming stranded with no cell service to call for help!!!
However, I did get some really pretty pictures of scenery ... though nothing that the Bachelor Loop promised us. Needs to be better marked. What happened was that we stopped at the wooden signs that said, "Stop and read this." We did and then we continued on the road ahead past the signs past some buildings.

A really cool place to visit and explore. Buildings still exist from when the mines were active. There’s also an example museum style mine at the base for you to tour. BUT BEWARE, it’s not wise to try to navigate the loop without a vehicle designed to handle steep off road activity.
