As a full time Realtor we are dependent on the electronic tools & systems put in place to carry out our daily responsibilities & serve our clients. One of the most important is the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

As widely reported many of the real estate associations across the state & nation who contract with Rapattoni to manage & operate their MLS were directly impacted by the cyberattack made against this company. These associations no longer have a fully operational MLS.

In this day & age something like this was bound to happen & was probably expected by many. What was not expected nor in my opinion acceptable is the lack of any meaningful communication from Rapattoni executive leadership.

They no doubt rack up hundreds of thousands if not millions in contract fees to provide a service & in a moment of crisis zero effective communication from their management team. Aside from the canned template language being put out in emails & insufficient public statements what does the Rapattoni management team, specifically the CEO/President of this company, have planned to get us back to normal as soon as possible?

You would think if what this company is putting out is true, that this elite group of IT experts are working around the clock to figure things out, then we would have received a preliminary assessment by now more significant then the talking points being put out at the moment.

After a week of expert assessment & evaluation there has to be a decent idea or opinion regarding the size & scope of the problem they have on their hands…and at least some recommendations on what needs to happen to move forward.

These recommendations might not be great options for this company’s bottom line but they should think of the hit their reputation is taking each day this situation continues on its current course. This by far is going to cost them ten-fold in the long run.

A true measure of a business, service, operation, etc is not how well things go when all is normal but how well things go in a period of adverse conditions or crisis. This is a true measure of one’s strength. This company is failing miserably….& sadly mostly attributed to a business 101 lesson…..communication or lack thereof.
