I was brought to Woodie from a friend's family member. My first return with him was great in 2019 and I used him again for 2022 because I had some complicated documents I've never filed before (1099 related), and for 2023 filing.
By the end of May (30th) last year, I was beginning to get concerned because I still had yet to receive my tax refund. So I double checked my mail and noticed I failed to see before filing that I had received a 1095-A. Woodie NEVER reached out to me to even inform me that my return was not accepted. I had to be the one to reach out to him (unprofessional). We get everything together he sends it in. I pay the $342.14 it turns out I owe. No problem.
In October I receive a letter from the IRS stating that I owe $340. Now I'm confused because I paid through the IRS portal in total and I have the confirmation document to prove it. I reach out to Woodie he asks me to send it over and I do. 1 month passes, no word and I have reached out multiple times at this point (unprofessional). I finally pin him down only after threatening to report him to the BBB via text (that gets his attention). He calls me back immediately after weeks of radio silence just for him to tell me that I am not one of his high priority clients (unprofessional) and whine to me about a priority client that recently died that he was having problems with the IRS about, and if I wanted to report ANYBODY, it should be the IRS (unprofessional). After listening to him complain about how I basically wasn't worth his time while also doubling as his impromptu shrink, I was told that I needed to send him more pictures of the document front and back with details, and he blamed me for not sending it right the first time. That only tells me he only took the time to glance at it and didn't even have the decency to let me know, once again it takes me reaching out (Unprofessional).
I send over the rest of the document right after the call. I reach out for weeks and ANOTHER month passes. He finally reaches out and says he's in the process of switching offices and when everything settles that he will get in touch. I say okay đđž.
It is now APRIL 15TH 2025, AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THIS MAN AGAIN. And this is NOT for lack of trying. I gave up on him after I left a message with his new secretary after their Re-opening in February or March, who the hell knows at this point.
I'm pretty sure he messed up re-filing or whatever he did to my taxes when I forgot the 1059A, and just didn't want to deal with it. I'm hoping nothing negative comes back from this, especially because I did my best to reach out. I didn't intentionally leave out anything, and if this jerk was a better tax preparer, a lot of this miscommunication could have been avoided.
For someone who complained about me not being a priority customer, he sure did TAKE MY MONEY FOR HIS SHABBY SERVICES. Now I understand why my friend's family no longer uses his services. A waste of time and effort, and a major headache that was completely unnecessary. As I've already told him, I will never patronize his business again.
