I had a procedure done here and the staff was so amazing! I was VERY nervous to have my first surgery, and Judith the nurse was kind and caring. She explained everything to me and really made me comfortable. Dr. Kaiser is amazing too! I am very thankful for the care I received at AVRMC, from the surgical and anesthesia department, they all made me feel safe.

I had an emergency where I had dislocated my shoulder.

Long story short, the doctors don’t have any clue how to treat a person, they lie on the bills claiming you received medication that you don’t and bill you for a poor service. Don’t risk your Health or your life by going to AVRMC.

First off, I don’t willingly go to the doctors or hospital because of the obvious reasons that they practice medicine, not mastered it, but practice it. I had been in extreme pain for over 4 days.
Anyways, the nurses were great, they were empathetic and willing to help. Not the reason for the one star review. I was taken to X-ray to ensure there were no breaks also great service not the reason for the one star review.
Here is where the one star comes in the doctor never touched me, he walked in the emergency room I was occupying and said my shoulder looks fine, no dislocation no breaks and said I would receive some pain pills for the pain. He then turned around and walked out. The nurse then handed me two pills and some water to wash them down. The pain didn’t change and that went on for two weeks. I ended up at my chiropractor at my normal scheduled appointment and at first glance he asked me if my shoulder was ok, I explained to him what had happened and with a small crack, and a piercing pain the pain was gone, my arm was sore but it didn’t hurt to move anymore.
More to the one star review, I got billed for the er visit, the doctor visit, an injection and an X-Ray.
I contacted the hospital and asked about the injection and they said I received an injection, I explained that I received two pills but no injection.
I got billed for a doctor that has no clue on what he is doing and let me leave with the same dislocated shoulder I came in with.

Staff here are great. They took my mom in quickly and saw to her needs and took great care of her. Even though my dad is no longer with us, I was so impressed at how much care he had from the doctors and nurses. I know small towns always get the bad rap about their medical facilities, but the hospital here in La Junta has great staff and the community is lucky to have this.

Head Trauma patient was vomiting for hours and when i took them to the er we were refused service. These people have no interest in helping people who are hurt only being comfortable and collecting a paycheck

This is not a hospital, it's a comedy lounge. They send people home in severe pain. Proper pain medication is not given based on pain level. They give you everything but what will help your pain. This way, instead of charging you for 1 medication that will help, they give you 3 that won't. That is how they make their money, by giving you more medications than you need. When someone has a chronic illness and is in severe pain they punish them for it and then tell them they should advicate for themselves. LA JUNTA DOES NOT HAVE A HOSPITAL! One star because I can't give them a ZERO!

Seen Jessica Onega a doctor here for two years and was treated like I was garbage and my pain meant nothing to them. It is not normal to be in so much pain that you can't get out of bed her case load is so high that your er visit follow up will be scheduled out for two months later. I was referred to her Surgeon Dr Jackson that Claim that he refuses to do a exploratory surgery due to complications and said he will talk to Jessica about prescription that can possibly help never received a response from Jessica I have decided to go to another doctor they got me on the schedule in 5 days something needs to be done she has way too many patients 😭 it's horrible that they are taking insurance money and not giving adequate care. This really need to be looked into. But it appears that this is a one star hospital facility so what did I expect.

Kudos to the ER. This head nurse told us we have a 4 hour wait for something not really urgent. She explained we could wait but there were so many people worse off. One person came in from an accident and an elderly woman came in on stretchers. If she didn't tell us we would have waited and would be upset. I noticed they took care of the most important cases which is protocol. I do wish they had more staff to care for everyone that comes in in a timely manner. This is not the nurses and doctors fault. Keep up the good work and thanks for communicating. Tell your director to get more crew on board. It would be a wonderful medical center if they did this especially during the sick season and accidents are at a higher rate. If any employee reads this talk to your board and tell them to listen to their patients. Thank you.
